Scriptwriting & Storyboarding

Create a unique short story for preparation for the Flash group cartoon or comic. For your production you are required to have a specific genre, title, clear theme, a pitch in mind, and storyboard or script to share with others before deciding what the group will create together.

  • You have two options. Write a script or prepare a storyboard to present to your peers in a group with the above information.
  • Do either of the above choices using the computer or on paper by hand.
  • If you want to write a script use the program on your computer called “Celtx”
  • If you choose to create your storyboard on the computer use Adobe Flash.

There are dozens of storyboard examples here.

The above student example is a good one because each panel represents a different scene with notes attached.

The above example is not as good because it resembles an animation, not a scene depiction of the future cartoon.

There's a required handout that you should turn in with your script or storyboard here.

Writing a script in the correct format takes time so if working from home you can download freeware to help you entitled, "Celtx".

Remember that you should have a theme or clear premise for your future production. If you do not yet, go to youthnoise.com to find one.

There's an option of creating an Animatic in preparation for your future video project instead of the animated cartoon if you want.
